Pink Toe Tarantulas (Avicularia avicularia) are beautiful, arboreal spiders known for their striking pinkish-orange leg coloration and docile nature. Here’s how to care for them:
Enclosure & Habitat
Tank size: A minimum of 10–20 gallons with vertical space is ideal.
Substrate: Use a substrate like coconut fiber or peat moss for burrowing.
Hiding spots: Include branches, plants, and cork bark for climbing and hiding.
Temperature & Humidity
Temperature: Maintain a range of 75–85°F.
Humidity: Keep humidity levels around 60–80% through regular misting and a water dish.
Diet
Feed a variety of live insects, such as crickets, roaches, and mealworms. Dust the food with a calcium supplement occasionally.
Handling & Behavior
Pink Toe Tarantulas are generally not aggressive, but handling is not recommended as it can stress them. They are best observed in their enclosure.
Health & Lifespan
With proper care, they can live 10–15 years.
