1. Enclosure & Habitat
Tank size: At least 40 gallons for juveniles, 75+ gallons for adults.
Substrate: Reptile carpet, tile, or non-loose substrate (avoid sand for young dragons).
Hiding spots & climbing decor: Provide branches, caves, and basking platforms.
2. Temperature & Lighting
Basking spot: 95–110°F (juveniles need the higher end).
Cool side: 75–85°F
UVB Lighting: Use a 10.0 UVB fluorescent bulb for proper calcium absorption.
Light cycle: 12–14 hours on, 10–12 hours off (mimicking natural daylight).
3. Diet & Nutrition
Juveniles: 70% protein (insects like crickets, dubia roaches, worms), 30% greens.
Adults: 70% greens (collard greens, mustard greens, squash), 30% protein.
Calcium supplement: Dust food with calcium + D3 4–5 times a week.
Water: Provide a shallow dish, but they mainly get hydration from food & misting.
4. Handling & Behavior
Bearded dragons are docile and friendly, making them great for handling.
Handle them gently and support their body to build trust.
5. Cleaning & Maintenance
Spot-clean daily, remove uneaten food, and clean water dish regularly.
Deep clean the enclosure every few weeks with reptile-safe disinfectant.
6. Health & Lifespan
Lifespan: 10–15 years with proper care.
Bearded dragons are great beginner reptiles and, with the right care, can become rewarding, interactive pets!
