Greek Tortoise
The Greek tortoise is a charming, small-to-medium-sized tortoise native to the Mediterranean region. Known for its domed shell and gentle personality, it makes a wonderful long-term companion with proper care. These tortoises thrive in warm, dry environments and require UVB lighting, a well-drained substrate for burrowing, and a varied diet of leafy greens and edible weeds. With the right setup and attention, Greek tortoises can live 50 years or more, making them a lifelong friend for dedicated keepers.
Greek tortoises need a spacious, dry habitat with room to roam and dig. Indoors, use a 3x6 ft tortoise table with a soil/sand mix substrate. Provide a basking area at 90–95°F, a cool side around 75°F, and full-spectrum UVB lighting. Add hide spots, flat rocks, and shallow water dishes.
